A Derbyshire schoolgirl has won a role in a new children’s TV show after impressing directors at a series of auditions.
Summer Featherstone, 5, from South Normanton, has already been dancing and acting for a number of years at local groups.
Summer’s mum, Lucie Featherstone, 37, explained how the opportunity came about for her daughter.

She said: “Basically she had a casting in London, and then she got a recall, and then we found out she’d got the part.
“We had to travel down to London where she filmed for two days with Nickelodeon for Paw Patrol Puptastic Rhymes.
“She had to sing a song and speak a bit about herself for the audition, and then she met the director at the recall.”
Summer, along with her older sister Tilly, 8, have both become keen performers, frequently travelling to London for casting calls and auditions.
She also takes after her mum who works as a drama and music teacher and has recently set up her own production company.
Summer was also asked to audition for a role in the musical Waitress in Manchester.
Her mum added: “I’ve always done it so my kids have always had an agent since they were little.
“We go to London quite a lot for castings, so they are used to it by now.
“She’s full of personality, she’s crazy, and she’s always messing around, making people laugh.”
While Summer has already seen some success, Lucie is keen for her to continue with performing for as long as she enjoys doing it.
“As long as she enjoys it, that’s the main thing,” she added.
“Whenever I say we’ve got to go to London for a casting, she’s always really excited to go there, especially whenever she does one with her sister.
“She always enjoys it, and as long as she does that’s what matters.”
Summer’s episode of Paw Patrol Puptastic Rhymes is due to be broadcast later this year.
