41443 Olivia’s Electric Car is intended to inspire kids to grow into sustainable adults, according to the set’s designers.
The product features a toy car that can be built and has an electric charging station. This allows Olivia, Mia and their dog to charge their car and go on adventures without worrying about the impact on the environment.
The charging station even has its own wind turbine, encouraging kids to think about renewable energy options and learn more about what sustainability means at a young age.
“LEGO Friends is grounded in the real world, so as designers we take our cues from what kids experience in their everyday lives,” says Fenella Charity, Design Director and Creative Lead of LEGO Friends, on the LEGO Group’s LinkedIn. “We have a responsibility to let kids experiment and learn about topics that they are interested in and celebrate and inspire kids on the way the world could be.
“The environment is important to today’s kids, so we are always looking at how we can make the topic fun, educational, and interactive.”
The LEGO Group has consistently pushed for education around sustainability for their younger builders, as in their Build the Change initiative and their other sustainability-focused sets.
