Promoters of electric vehicles are absolutely crowing about recent data showing record sales for non-hybrid electric vehicles. These electric vehicles made up a majority of the 2022 sales in the first half. 5.46% of all new car sales, while sales of hybrids declined. Comparatively, electric cars accounted for 2.7% of all car sales in 2021’s second quarter. 

Since the start of the pandemic the overall car sales have increased fallen drastically. Between 2015 and 2019, over 17 million new vehicles were sold each year. In 2020, sales fell to 14.7million and in 2021, only 12.28 million. Currently, we are close to matching the 2021 sales. 

The motive for the increase in EV purchases is nothing less than the largest and most coordinated effort of the federal government in shifting consumer behavior via market manipulation in automotive history. To obliterate the demand for these products, the Biden administration has intentionally raised gasoline and diesel prices via policy. 

If this seems hard to believe, you can listen to the Transportation secretary tell you that “The more pain that we are all experiencing from the high price of gas, the more benefit there is for those who can access electric vehicles.”As I stated earlier this year on this site, the federal government cannot lower the cost of electric cars. It can only make their competitors more expensive. That means more pain and the Biden administration understands it. Secretary Buttigieg is aware of this. characterized Americans as bitter clingers to our supposedly evil gasoline powered vehicles.

Real costs are one of the roadblocks to the green utopia that is the electric car. Manufacturers are faced with constant challenges because of rising input costs for EVs. increase the prices of these already-expensive toys. Ford announced recent increases in the prices for their F-150 Lightning pickup trucks, which are currently priced at $7,000 and $8.500, citing higher input costs. This could be viewed as part the transition from internal combustion production to EV production. However, the same tactic is being used at major EV-only producers. It’s no wonder that working class Americans are increasingly fed up with the Biden administration and the rest of his party. Recently, Rep. Thomas Massie (R.KY) schooled Biden’s transportation secretary on the real-world cost of charging an EV. Rep. Massie says that EVs would make up half of the US’s car fleet by 2030. This seems absurd, but it is true. A household would need twice the energy to run air conditioning for one year to charge an EV. It doesn’t take a PhD in economics to understand what that kind of increased load would do to our grid and to the cost of energy, especially if it came from unreliables like solar and wind.

The idea of owning an EV for working class Americans is a joke. One family discovered a serious practical problem of owning a used, low priced, EV: lack of manufacturer support. The family’s 2014 Ford Focus EV needed a new battery. The cost of the replacement battery for their car would be $14,000 more than they paid for it. To add insult to injury, they then found that Ford couldn’t even provide them with a replacement. Lack of manufacturer support for basic components for an 8 year old vehicle is unheard of for internal-combustion-powered cars. 

Although the Biden administration continues its mislead of the public, other policymakers and influential NGOs are starting to change the narrative. Recent reports from the World Economic Forum admitted to the many and varied environmental and human rights issues associated with EV production from the use of child slaves to mine cobalt in the Congo to the increased road and tire wear from heavy electric cars. Their solution to the problem is simply this: don’t own a vehicle. As I’ve said before on this site, the ultimate goal of the so-called “transition”To eliminate freedom of movement, EVs are to be converted to. If every move we make involves a transaction it can all be traced. The Biden administration would further restrict our freedom and privacy. Americans need to ask themselves: “how much ideological tyranny will we put up with before we use the ballot box to end it?”
