Minecraft is the number one selling game, and it’s not surprising. It’s not only available on every platform possible, but it’s also a very good game. There are many things you can do in the game, from surviving the survival mode to letting your creativity flow in the creative mode. This is still a poor selling point for the game. Minecraft isn’t free, and it’s not necessarily cheap. You might also want to consider other Minecraft alternatives. Another reason is that you are tired of Minecraft and are looking for something to fill your time.

While you can play Minecraft without paying anything, there are many Minecraft clones available, both paid and free. Most of them aren’t worth your while, but there are some worth looking at that could be worth your while. minecraft itch.

We have compiled a list with free Minecraft alternatives that should be enough to satisfy all your blocky desires. Let’s get started!

Trove

Trove

Trove is an MMO. It features all the voxel goodness that we have come to love with Minecraft, and more. The game has been around for a while, so there is plenty to do. It recently added a Battle Royale game mode and Steam Workshop support for custom mods. Trove has destructible voxel environments similar to Minecraft and allows you build and craft. Additionally, Trove includes RPG elements such as class selection, leveling-up and scaling equipment and gear. Although the game can be quite frustrating if you don’t have the money to spend, no content is behind a paywall except for some classes. The game’s combat is a lot more dynamic than Minecraft, especially with the various classes and their abilities thrown into the mix. There’s a lot more focus on combat and exploration than building in Trove, although you can definitely go crazy with building here too, there’s a wide selection of blocks and decorations that can help you create your dream base.

Creativerse

Creativerse

Creativerse is similar to Minecraft but it’s a voxel-based sandbox and is free to play. It has a modern aesthetic that is more Fortnite-like. Creativerse is the closest to Minecraft in terms of gameplay. This isn’t a cheap knockoff and it has some features that are different from Minecraft. You can acquire materials or change the way you do it. “mine”This game uses blocks differently from Minecraft. The same goes for the way you harvest ores. Crafting is very expansive and you have many biomes to explore. Combat is also much more dynamic than Minecraft. We think the blueprint feature is one the best features. It makes building structures very easy. Steam Workshop support is available for mods. Creativerse offers a Pro version with a lot more pros, including additional items and QoL advantages like increased stamina, inventory slots, and improved stamina. If you don’t mind, this is a great Minecraft alternative.

Robocraft

Robocraft is for the more PvP-oriented Minecraft players. Robocraft allows you to build machines that can be used in battle. You can also compare them with other players. It doesn’t have the same open-world and exploration as Minecraft, but it is a new level of PvP with a greater emphasis on the ability to build and customize the battle machines of your dreams. You will need to test your machine after you have built it. This is because you must be able to control it. Robocraft has a whole new crafting element. Robocraft is all fun when you find the right balance of maneuverability, attack, and defense. Robocraft features realistic physics. For instance, if one propeller of your flying robot is destroyed, you will fly lopsided. And this is just one example.

Unturned

Unturned

Unturned is best described as zombie apocalypse combining with Minecraft. Ok, maybe not the best description since Minecraft already has zombies… Unturned, which is not Minecraft, is a survival zombie game that uses Minecraft aesthetics. The game was created by one person, who was a teenager at the time. It’s still free to download, even after hundreds of updates and many years. Although Minecraft is generally considered to be a casual-friendly game Unturned would not fit that description. You will need to find resources and avoid zombies while you scrounge about for them. The voxel aesthetic does not diminish the challenge. The game is rich in content and depth, so give it a shot.

Roblox

Roblox, an online MMO for free, is unique because it’s not just a game. It’s a game platform. Roblox is entirely powered solely by user-generated content. This means that you can create your game or play one of the hundreds of thousands already created. Roblox offers a mix of genres and contents. If you’re looking for a specific game, Roblox may have a blockier clone. This could be anything from CSGO to PUBG to any other game. Roblox is completely free to play but you can make microtransactions. Roblox is extremely popular with more than 120 million active users per month. This means that you will not have any trouble finding other players to play with.

Paid alternatives

Now while for some of you the cost of Minecraft may be the only deterrent to getting the game, for those of you who don’t mind paying for a different experience, there are plenty of paid options to fill the void as well.

PixARK

PixARK

PixARK is based upon Ark: Survival Evolved. This was a popular survival game for sandboxes back in the day. PixARK incorporates many elements from Ark into a procedurally generated world. Each player has their own quests and must survive while fending off dinosaurs. You can also play the game in a creative mode, if you don’t want to deal directly with survival. Overall, PixARK reduces the difficulty of the OG Ark and adds a lot of casual, and some might even call it fun, elements to the game. It’s also the same developers, so there will be some bugs. 😛

Block Story

Block Story is a single-player RPG, which you can add to a Minecraft world. You’ve got classes and skills and abilities and can even tame and ride animals. You’ve got the usual crafting elements, such as mining for resources and crafting gear, you’ll also need to keep yourself and your pet fed etc. There’s a lot of content and some QoL features present as well, such as being able to teleport between beds for instance. The game is not without its flaws however, and you’ll certainly have an easier time of it if you’re willing to invest more money. Not something we’re fond of in a paid game that’s also single-player. The game is still worth checking out.

Terraria

Terraria

Terraria is often the first recommendation someone makes to anyone searching for MInecraft alternatives. If Minecraft were a 2D sidescroller, it would be Terraria. However, Terraria has many other advantages, including the ability to build and craft. You have a multitude of boss battles and magic abilities to use, making the game a lot more action-oriented. You will also find a lot of biomes, as well as the various critters and enemies you can encounter. Hidden dungeons can be found with traps, baddies, and treasure to loot. It can be overwhelming to get started but once you do, you will find a rabbit hole waiting to be explored.

You can play the game solo or with up to four players.

Boundless

Boundless

Boundless, an MMO sandbox title with survival as the main focus, is a MMO sandbox title. This MMO has a lot of content, more than Minecraft. It can easily keep you busy for hours. There are hundreds of craftable items and a player-controlled economy, which is quite common in MMO games. MMOs are more collaborative, but you can still do it your way. The game’s world is large and has an unusual aesthetic that just works for it.

Dragon Quest Builders

Dragon Quest Builders

Although Dragon Quest Builders may not be something you associate with Minecraft, it is a Dragon Quest game. The game has the same blocky aesthetic as Minecraft, but with the building and gathering of resources.
