As LEGO NINJAGO approaches its 10th anniversary, it’s important to remember the minifigures and characters that brought this theme to where it is today, including the Elemental Masters that inhabit NINJAGO.

LEGO NINJAGO has seen many characters and minifigures in its 10-year history, but none have been as popular as the Elemental Masters. It can be difficult to recall how many have appeared over the years.

Not to worry, as Brick Fanatics is delving deep into NINJAGO’s history to find every instance of an Elemental Master, and which sets they can be found in. From the core cast to the most niche character, here’s every instance of a LEGO NINJAGO Elemental Master minifigure.

This list will contain spoilers for characters from LEGO NINJAGO’s various seasons..

Creation and destruction

Creation and destruction are the primary elements of NINJAGO. Although technically they are not elements, they are still important.

Creation is the ability to give life and create from nothing. Although it has been used only by a few characters in the show, it is now somewhat common.

Lord Garmadon and Sensei Wu have both used this power for good and evil. They are the direct descendants of the First Spinjitzu Master who created the NINJAGO universe.

Both Sensei Wu and Garmadon have appeared in a great many sets over the years and can currently be found in 71718 Wu’s Battle Dragon and 71701 Kai’s Fire Dragon, which both contain a dragon, a creature in NINJAGO that is also able to use the power of creation.

Destruction, on the other hand, is more common among characters but less common among minifigures. Destruction is a power which acts as the polar opposite to creation. It destroys what has been built and takes away what has life.

This power has been used by quite a few characters, including Garmadon, Oni, the villain, and Mystake, the tea-shop owner. Garmadon is not included in the minifigures. Mystake was featured in 70657 NINJAGO City Docks, and the Oni in 853866 Oni Villains Combat Pack.

Energy, darkness, and golden power

These three powers, of which only one is an element, were only ever used by two characters. Lloyd Garmadon, the Overlord and green ninja himself.

Both darkness and golden power are the ultimate powers of light or darkness in the show, and have been used only a few times. They have never been used by The Overlord or the green ninja. Energy is Lloyd Garmadon’s elemental power and the most powerful elemental ability.

Coincidentally, both these characters are featured in the new 2021 NINJAGO legacy set 71742 Overlord Dragon. This set recreates the epic battle between light and darkness. Read our review of this set.

Fire, water and earth, lightning, and ice

These elements are possessed by the most frequently seen minifigures in this theme, the heroic Japanese ninja. These powers are held by Nya, Cole Jay, Jay, Jay, and Zane, who have all appeared in far too many sets.

However, all of these characters can be found in one set with their mobile headquarters and home away. 71705 Destiny’s Bounty depicts a vehicle that has become a frequent set over NINJAGO’s lifespan and is the only currently available set to include all six ninjas, including a much younger Lloyd Garmadon.

Amber, smoke, and shadow

Amber is one the more interesting elemental abilities, allowing the user touch to copy any element. Only one character has used it so far, although their minifigure has appeared three times in sets. Skylor first appeared as Skylor in 70746 Condrai Copter Attack. Later, she was seen in a new suit with 853687 Accessory Set. Most recently, Skylor appears in 70651 Throne Room Showdown.

Shadow makes it impossible for the user to be seen when they are in shadow, completely blending them together. Smoke transforms the user’s body into smoke, becoming intangible and unstoppable for a time. Shade and Ash have used both of these powers for the good NINJAGO. They were with Skylor in the 853687 Accessory Pack.

Speed and metal

The Elemental power that metal gives the user makes them truly immovable. A shiny metallic form overtakes them, and transforms them to a powerful and durable being. Karlof is the only one to have this power.

Speed allows the wielder speed to move very quickly and dodge almost all attacks. This power belongs to Griffin Turner, and both his and Karlof’s minifigures remain exclusive to 70756 Dojo Showdown

Mind and time

The Elemental Master of mind has the power to read other’s thoughts and predict their movements. They can also distract them using a sharp headache, making it quite strategic. Neuro, who first appeared in 5004938 Bricktober Minifigure Pack, is the only character that has this power. He was seen alongside the master of Fire and one of the masters in time.

The most powerful ability in NINJAGO’s world is time. It has four main functions. You can speed up, slow it down, rewind or stop time. There were two masters in time, who existed simultaneously. Krux and Acronix appeared as the main villains of 70626 Dawn of Iron Doom.

Wind

Another elemental master of winds is another one who used their power for selfish purposes, becoming a villain for NINJAGO. Morro was the villain of the 2015 Possession wave. He took on a ghostly form to enslave Lloyd because he was jealous of Lloyd’s selection as the green Ninja. Set 70743 and 70738 included Morro.

Poisonous and dangerous light

The Elemental Masters are more interesting in design because their minifigures are directly taken from LEGO Ultra Agents. Tox, Paleman and Paleman were the names of the NINJAGO characters. However, their Ultra Agents counterparts also appeared around the time.

Toxikita appeared in both waves of Ultra Agents in 70163 Toxikita’s Toxic Meltdown and 70169 Agent Stealth Patrol. Her design features a tank-top and spiked collar with green marks adorning the skin. Invizable was a star in 70167 Invizable gold getaway, where she had powers including invisibility.

The NINJAGO characters are the same in both ability and design to that of the Ultra Agents villains, and their minifigures have only appeared in that theme’s sets so far. Both characters have been a part the show’s newer seasons, even after their Ultra Agents debut.

Nature, gravity, and sound

Only four Elemental masters are left, with three of them appearing in a new set for 2021. Brick Fanatics recently reviewed 71735 Tournament of Elements. It will launch alongside the new LEGO NINJAGO range January 1. This new model includes three minifigures that are required to complete the Elemental Masters.

Gravis is the master and ruler of gravity. He is gifted with the ability control the natural forces around him. This ability can allow Gravis to fly and lift other objects or people by changing their gravity or inverting it. Jacob is a master of sound and uses his sitar for sound waves to echolocate dangers.

The element of nature grants the user the ability to manipulate plant life and speed up growth to trap enemies. Bolobo is the master of this power and completes the set. His minifigure appearance is unique to the show as it is bare-chested. It gives the character a more natural appearance.

Form

The last element in the NINJAGO universe is form. This allows the master to alter their appearance and voice as they wish. Chamille is the master form creator, but has not yet appeared in any LEGO sets.

With only one character remaining, hopefully the LEGO Group will be able to complete this five-year-long series. Chamille was the last to mention that she had gone to hell. This could be a sign of a future on the side the villains but we can only hope it’s at least a minifigure.
